At least one person died and some buildings were damaged in a strong earthquake that hit the Greek island of Lefkada on Tuesday morning, Greek police announced, according to the Patria news agency.
The epicenter of the 6.5 magnitude earthquake was 13 kilometers west of Lefkada, the Greek Seismological Institute announced. According to police sources, a 59-year-old woman died when her house collapsed due to a rockslide in the coastal town of Ponti. According to local sources, another woman died in a barn in the mountain village of Athani, but police could not confirm this, Index writes.
