Snipers killed four police officers during protests against police brutality

Four Dallas police officers were killed by snipers during protests against recent cases of police brutality against African Americans. Both attackers are in custody. One surrendered on his own, while the other was apprehended by the police, BBC News reports, as stated by the Patria News Agency.

The shooting broke out while demonstrators were marching through the city. A suspicious package was reportedly found at the scene of the shooting and is being examined by bomb disposal technicians.

The Dallas Police Chief stated that snipers in an ambush shot 11 police officers, four of whom died.

They fired from elevated positions in Belo Garden Park around 8:45 PM local time. Two officers are undergoing surgery, and three are in critical condition. A total of seven police officers were injured.

Jeff Hood, one of the protest organizers, said that people were frantically seeking cover when the shooting began.
