UIO officials seize textiles worth BAM 40,000

Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority temporarily seized a larger quantity of various textile products at the Arizona market with a total value of BAM 40,000, reports the Patria News Agency.

- Based on operational knowledge of textile smuggling into Bosnia and Herzegovina, authorized officials of the UIO's Smuggling and Offence Prevention Group at the Tuzla Regional Center conducted checks on the origin of goods for a legal entity registered in the Brčko District.

Field activities were carried out at three locations at the Arizona Market. During the checks of indirect tax payment obligations, by reviewing accounting documentation and conducting an inventory of goods, a surplus of foreign-origin goods was determined. This included 794 pairs of jeans, 106 various t-shirts, and 10 jackets. The value of the temporarily seized goods amounts to BAM 40,000.

A request for the initiation of misdemeanor proceedings will be filed against the legal entity registered in the Brčko District and the responsible person within the legal entity, due to the grounds for suspicion that they committed the misdemeanor offense of Receiving, Holding, and Trading Goods for Which a Customs Offense Has Been Committed, under Article 17 of the Law on Customs Offenses of BiH - it was announced from the UIO.
