SIPA, DKPT, and Border Police Officers Can Take Vehicles from Citizens During Pursuit or Arrest

According to the Law on Police Officers, which applies to SIPA, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, and the Border Police of BiH, police officers can take a car or other vehicle from citizens in cases where the situation requires it, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

- For the purpose of pursuing or arresting a perpetrator of a criminal offense, a police officer may use another person's vehicle and communication device, for which they shall issue a receipt. A police officer may use such a vehicle or communication device exclusively for the time necessary to complete the pursuit or arrest - the Law states.

If any damage occurs during use, the owner or user of the vehicle or communication device is entitled to compensation for the actual damage caused by the use of their property.

- Damage shall be compensated by the police authority, in accordance with the law and regulations.
