Chance Passerby Costs Adnan Šerak His Freedom, Arrested in Mostar Area

(Patria) - Adnan Šerak, a dangerous fugitive for whom the MUP of Sarajevo Canton issued a wanted notice due to endangering safety, was arrested today in the Mostar area.

The drama began last night around 9 p.m. when members of the MUP of HNK stopped a vehicle in which Šerak was located. While the police were taking his companions, I. S. (1986) and A. R. (1999) for questioning, Šerak managed to seize the moment and flee into the darkness.

The search ended today in the area under the jurisdiction of the Mostar North Police Station. According to information from the Mostar Danas portal, the fugitive was located in the area between gas stations along the M-17 main road.

A chance passerby played a key role in the arrest. According to unofficial information, he recognized Šerak from the police wanted poster and immediately alerted the competent authorities. The police quickly cordoned off the area and found Šerak hiding in nearby bushes, just a few meters from one of the busiest traffic routes in the country.

Adnan Šerak has long been well known to police and judicial authorities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. His thick file contains several final convictions, including one for the most serious criminal offense. We remind you, Šerak was convicted for beating to death another convict from Sarajevo, Dženan Džaku, in prison.
