The day after Montenegro's admission to NATO, sarcastic remarks began. One of the first came from Miroslav Lazanski, considered by many to be an analyst who says what official Belgrade cannot say, writes the BH news agency Patria.
Lazanski considers it problematic that Montenegrin airports and ports do not have anywhere near the capacity to accommodate NATO ships, planes, and logistics. For example, the famous aircraft carrier "Nimitz" has nowhere to dock in Montenegro, nor does a transport plane like the "Galaxy." Montenegro is important to NATO because if it doesn't expand, it stagnates, comparing this military alliance to large multinational corporations. Montenegro is a new territory and a new market.
- What reforms and democracy, what rule of law and legal state - Lazanski concludes ironically.
- Last Thursday, I landed at the international airport in Tivat. All passengers lined up for passport control. The first in line was Tomislav Karadžić, president of the Football Association of Serbia, and immediately behind him was the legendary football goalkeeper Ivan Ćurković. We stood for 35 minutes because the computer system crashed. No one moved, the police officers were deadly serious. Suddenly, a man in civilian clothes appeared from the police booth and shouted: 'Hey uncle'. And he took his uncle out of the line, and without passport or any other control, his uncle entered Montenegro. Karadžić, Ćurković, and all of us were left speechless - says Lazanski.
- So, that's the new NATO state - Lazanski adds mockingly.
