(Patria) - Slovak police have arrested a man who threatened to carry out a massacre similar to the one committed in the capital of the Czech Republic.
Police stated that the 64-year-old was detained in the city of Žilina in the north of the country after he called emergency services claiming he intended to do "what happened in Prague," the BBC reports.
He now faces criminal prosecution for inciting public alarm, for which the maximum penalty is two years in prison.
In Prague on Thursday, a student opened fire at a university, killing 14 people. Czech police have arrested several individuals following that shooting.
Slovak police said the man who was taken into custody called emergency services the same evening and said he wanted to obtain a pistol to carry out a similar massacre.
The police also released a video showing officers armed with automatic weapons breaking down the door of his apartment shortly afterward and arresting him.
