The number of people who have reached the Greek coast by sea since the beginning of this year is 160,000. According to UN reports, the number of migrants who have crossed the Mediterranean this year is 264,500, reports the Patria News Agency.  

Sometimes numbers do not provide the clearest picture from the ground, but a photograph that is circulating the world will surely be etched in your memory, and the next time you think of migrants, perhaps even in a negative context, remember it.

A photograph by Daniel Etter, a professional photographer, has begun to change the image of migrants in the eyes of Europeans. The photograph shows a father from Syria who, with his children, arrived on the Greek coast after a long journey.

The moment he hugged his daughter and son tightly in tears has gone around the world. Their boat had been taking on water for the last few hours at sea, they did not know if they would survive.
