(Patria) - At least 15 people were killed in overnight US-Israeli attacks across Iran, according to local media.
Iran's semi-official Mehr agency reports that six bodies were pulled from the rubble of buildings in the city of Pardis, east of Tehran.
Local officials also stated that nine people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a residential area in Shahriyar, in the western Tehran province.
Iranian official Alireza Rahimi called on citizens, especially the youth, to form "human chains" around power plants following US President Donald Trump's threats of new attacks on infrastructure after the ultimatum expired. He stated that he would destroy power plants.
Rahimi, presented by state television as the secretary of the Supreme Council for Youth and Adolescents, called in a video address for "youth, athletes, artists, students, and professors" to gather around power plants.
He called on them to gather today around "national resources that belong to Iran's future," regardless of political beliefs.
The call comes after Trump threatened new attacks on Iranian infrastructure if Tehran does not open the Strait of Hormuz within the given deadline.
Iran has previously organized similar actions around nuclear facilities during times of heightened tensions.
Israel issued a warning to Iranians today not to use trains, which could indicate an attack on railway infrastructure.
The International Committee of the Red Cross warned of the danger of "indiscriminate warfare," emphasizing that threats and actions that disregard the limitations of warfare are unacceptable, BBC reports. The organization, which is the guardian of the Geneva Conventions, stated that wars waged without limits are "indefensible, inhumane, and devastating."
The warning comes after repeated threats by US President Donald Trump that he might attack Iranian power plants, and even water desalination facilities. Intentional attacks on infrastructure crucial for life, such as water supply and energy systems, are prohibited under the Geneva Conventions, the International Committee of the Red Cross warned.
