Popular actor Tom Hardy will produce and star in a film about the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Patria agency.
The film titled "My War Gone By, I Miss It So" is based on the 1999 book of the same name written by Anthony Lloyd, an English journalist and war correspondent. The film will be directed and produced by Gavin O'Connor and Scott LaStaiti, N1 reports.
"My War Gone By, I Miss It So" is Lloyd's personal account of the war in BiH, as well as his alternating experiences between what he witnessed in BiH and personal reflections on his time in the British army, his parents' divorce, estrangement from his father, and heroin addiction.
- My War Gone By is a brutal yet sensitive story that deals with addiction and the experience of war. Anthony's work and his words, his experience, struck me, and for me, it is an important voice and book - said Hardy.
Lloyd left England when he was 26 to document the war in BiH, where he witnessed the horrors that occurred.
- Anthony's memoir was love at first page. It is a portrait of war unlike any I have ever read before - said O'Connor.
- The personal struggle of a heroin addict reporting from the front lines in Bosnia - the bloodiest conflict Europe has not seen since World War II. He uses the adrenaline from war to fight his drug addiction. I feel privileged and honored to have the opportunity to bring this book to the cinema - O'Connor emphasized.
