(Patria) - Elma Baraković, an official at the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, has been arrested as part of the "Overdose" operation, Istraga learns. She was arrested on Wednesday under the order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office along with seven other individuals, but media close to the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs, Aljoša Čampara, did not publish her name.
The reason is simple - the arrested state official Baraković is the first cousin of Federal Minister Aljoša Čampara and his brother, state prosecutor Dubravko Čampara. Baraković is employed at the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH precisely through Minister Čampara, who was the secretary of the BiH PA for about fifteen years.
We remind you that the operational-tactical operation "Overdose" was carried out under the supervision of prosecutors from the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of documenting criminal offenses of organized crime related to the unauthorized trafficking of narcotic drugs and the unauthorized trafficking of weapons and military equipment, as well as dual-use products.
"The 'Overdose' operation is the result of the operational work of police officers who analyzed data obtained by decrypting communications via the Sky application among the suspected persons," announced the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton.
A total of eight individuals were deprived of their liberty, six men and two women: A.K. (1989), D.K. (1992), A.Z. (1993), A.S. (1983), A.K. (1994), A.J. (1989), Z.M. (1983), and E.B. (1976). Media close to the Čampara family then "exclusively learned" the names of all arrested individuals except for the person with the initials E.B. Elma Baraković, a long-time official at the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, is hiding behind the initials E.B.
Before becoming Baraković, Elma's surname was Kurbegović. She is, in fact, the ex-wife of Anes Kurbegović, one of the convicted individuals in the "Lutka" case. The "Lutka" operation was led by state prosecutor Dubravko Čampara. However, on the day of the first-instance verdict, Kurbegović did not appear in court, after which a warrant was issued for him.
Anes Kurbegović was also one of the main figures in the "hacker" case, when an investigation was opened against state prosecutor Oleg Čavka because he took mobile phones and tablets confiscated from Kurbegović to his home to find compromising material against his colleague Dubravko Čampara. The investigation against Čavka was led by prosecutor Čampara.
"Since Kurbegović Anes's wife is Dubravko Čampara's cousin, and who reported during Čampara's duty that his mobile phone was activated in the Breza area, a case was formed and they worked on that case, and then they probably expected me to have really stolen the phone," said state prosecutor Oleg Čavka in an interview with BIRN on September 2, 2016.
Elma, in the meantime, divorced and remarried. However, it is evident that she continued to maintain ties with individuals from the criminal milieu, which is why she was arrested on Wednesday.
The acting prosecutor in this case is Ćazim Hasanspahić. According to Istraga's information, Hasanspahić, at the instigation of his colleague Dubravko Čampara, intends to release Elma Baraković, before even approaching the BiH Court where he will seek pre-trial detention for other individuals arrested in this case.
In addition to Elma Baraković, brothers Amer and Dino Karić, as well as Adis Selimović, Zlata Mujkić, and Aldin Zornić were arrested as part of this operation.
