KS Assembly in a Hurry: New KS Government First, Then Budget for 2023 Adoption

(Patria) - The KS Assembly will hold its fifth working session on March 24, where it is expected to confirm the new KS Government after four political parties (SDP, NIP, NS, and Party of BiH) reached an agreement on the division of portfolios. Thus, the new KS Government, led by Nihad Uk, will have four ministers from NIP, four from SDP, and two each from Our Party and the Party of BiH. These four parties have 23 representatives in the KS Assembly.

The previous two sessions of the KS Assembly, which began on January 27 and February 8, were adjourned, and it is unknown when they will be continued.

Following this session to confirm the KS Government, the KS Assembly will hold another session to adopt the Budget for 2023, given that the decision on temporary financing is valid until March 31. The budget must be adopted by then. The public debate concluded on February 28, and the new Minister of Finance is expected to present the Budget Proposal to the KS Assembly after corrections from the public debate. Given that the KS Government has already agreed on certain salary and coefficient increases and salary supplements, these will only be paid after the budget is adopted.

The session on March 24 will not only see the confirmation of the new Government but also a change in the leadership of the KS Assembly. As Igor Stojanović has taken over the position of the Vice President of the FBiH, he will be replaced in the leadership of the KS Assembly by his party colleague Jelena Pekić.
