KS Assembly to Discuss Four Laws from the Economy Sector Today

(Patria) - The KS Assembly will hold a continuation of its 54th working session today, which will include four laws from the economy sector: the Draft Law on Amendments to the Water Law and three draft laws: the Law on Public-Private Partnership, the Law on Financial Incentives in Agriculture and Rural Development in the KS area, and the Law on Amendments to the Mining Law. Each of the mentioned laws regulates the legal framework of extremely important segments for the Sarajevo Canton, namely the improvement of natural resource management, through the laws on water and mining, and the growth of economic activity by strengthening the legal framework for all the mentioned areas.

"By adopting the Water Law, the processes of issuing water permits will finally be accelerated, and thus the obtaining of necessary construction permits, which are currently taking longer than acceptable due to the extensive applications at the Ministry of Economy. In addition, the new law will also enable the resolution of the long-standing problem of illegal water supply systems that are not part of the system and are therefore a major source of infection in some Sarajevo settlements. Also, these amendments will regulate the priority of managing reservoirs that are not primarily intended for water supply and which, in the absence of drinking water or fire protection, will be primarily used for supplying the population and for fire protection, and only then for other purposes," reminded the Minister of Economy Adnan Delić, ahead of today's continuation of the Assembly session.

He also emphasized the importance of the Law on Public-Private Partnership and financial incentives in agriculture and rural development.

"Both of these laws are of great importance for the further economic growth of the canton, as the Law on PPP will finally remove all obstacles that currently prevent the implementation of projects based on public-private partnership, while the Law on agricultural incentives and rural development will bring a number of innovations that will further strengthen agricultural production and domestic food production, the establishment of young agricultural farms, an increase in the amount of incentives, the development of rural households as a prerequisite for strengthening supply and services in the field of rural tourism, and a number of other features that we believe will encourage the strengthening of agriculture and agricultural production," the minister emphasized.

If the assembly members adopt the new Water Law, it will be another in a series of amended laws in the economy sector, considering that earlier this year, laws on forests, the Cantonal Agency for Investment Promotion and Privatization, and the Concessions Law were adopted.

The other three draft laws, if adopted, will go to public discussion, and a Draft Law on Amendments to the Tourism Law, which passed public discussion earlier this year, is also in preparation.
