(Patria) - North Korea tested a tactical ballistic missile equipped with a new guidance system yesterday, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
"The General Bureau of North Korea conducted a test launch of a tactical ballistic missile equipped with a new autonomous guidance navigation system on May 17. The test launch confirmed the accuracy and reliability of the system.
The launch was carried out as part of the regular activities of the North Korean General Missile Bureau and subordinate defense research institutes for the active development of weapons technology," the agency stated.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un personally supervised the test, TASS reported.
The South Korean military had previously reported that North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan on May 17. They flew approximately 300 kilometers.
