(Patria) - North Korea announced this morning that denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, which South Korea will discuss at the summit with China today, according to a report by North Korean state media KCNA, is an unachievable "dream", Reuters reported.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will hold a summit today on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum being held in Gyeongju, South Korea.
Lee's office announced on Friday that Xi and Lee will discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
"The Republic of Korea is still unaware that attempts to deny the DPRK's position as a nuclear-armed state and talk about its dream of achieving denuclearization only reveal its lack of common sense," KCNA stated, using abbreviations for the Republic of Korea - the official name of South Korea, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea - the official name of North Korea.
"We will patiently show that denuclearization is a 'dream' that can never be realized," KCNA stated, citing a statement by Deputy Foreign Minister Pak Myong Ho.
