North Korea condemns arrival of US aircraft carrier in South Korea

(Patria) - North Korean state media condemned the arrival of a US aircraft carrier in South Korea on Friday, calling it a military provocation that could bring "irrevocable, catastrophic circumstances", Reuters reported.

The nuclear-powered USS Ronald Reagan and its strike group arrived in the
South Korean port of Busan on Thursday for allied exercises, in a show of force against North Korea.

North Korea's official news agency KCNA reported that the visit showed that the US plan for a nuclear attack on its country had reached its "most serious stage", meaning that "the outbreak of a nuclear war is coming to the fore".

"This is an undisguised military provocation that brings the situation to irrevocable catastrophic
circumstances," KCNA said in a commentary.

US and South Korean forces have conducted a series of military exercises this year, including US aircraft carriers, submarines and top-tier bombers, to better respond to North Korea's new nuclear and missile threats. North Korea calls the exercises an invasion rehearsal.
