(Patria) - Fourteen children aged 11 to 14 have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a teenager died in a fire, Northumbria Police in northern England announced yesterday.
According to initial findings, the body of a 14-year-old boy was found by firefighters in the industrial zone of Gateshead, a suburb of Newcastle Upon Tyne, where they were called on Friday evening.
The fire broke out around 8 PM local time.
Police announced last night that they had detained fourteen children, eleven boys and three girls aged between 11 and 14. They are suspected of manslaughter.
- The investigation is still in its early stages and we ask the public not to speculate about the facts - said a police spokesperson, without releasing details about the tragedy.
Local residents told the BBC today that teenagers often 'break into' the industrial area and play there.
