(Patria) - US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said he has ordered the deployment of additional defense capabilities to the Middle East, as the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran increases regional tensions, Reuters reported.
Hegseth did not disclose which military capabilities he sent to the region. However, Reuters reported on Monday about the deployment of a large number of US military refueling aircraft and the repositioning of aircraft carriers to the Middle East.
"Protecting American forces is our top priority, and these deployments are aimed at strengthening our defensive posture in the region," Hegseth said in a post on social network X.
