Memories: Seven years since the murder of Amar Mistrić

In the Sarajevo cafe "Ocho Rios", on August 13, 2009, twenty-three-year-old waiter and co-owner of the cafe Amar Mistrić was murdered. Two young men, after not being served drinks, shot the waiter and inflicted severe injuries, from which he died two hours later at the Sarajevo Clinical Center.

The police apprehended two individuals who assisted the shooters in their escape. The suspects for Mistrić's murder, Anel Herak and Edin Vuk, initially spent several days on the run before being apprehended and arrested by Croatian police. The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo expanded the investigation against Anel Herak to include the attempted murder of N. V., who was nine months pregnant at the time.

The Appellate Council of the Supreme Court of FBiH sentenced Edin Vuk to 18 years in prison for the murder of Amar Mistrić. Anel Herak was sentenced by the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo for violent behavior during Mistrić's murder (4 years in prison) and for the attempted murder of the pregnant woman Nejra Varatan (3 years in prison), resulting in a combined sentence of six years and eight months in prison.
