Milad is a 29-year-old dentist who fled Syria to London last year. He responded on Facebook to questions many are asking, such as why refugees do not stay and fight in the war, why there are so many men in the columns, and where the women and children are. CNN highlighted the most interesting answers, reports the Patria News Agency.
Asked why, as a young man, he did not stay in Syria, fight and try to build a better future, Milad answers:
"It's not an easy thing when bombs are flying over your head, when you hear gunfire, and when you can't find a job and money to live. I mean, war destroys everything in the country. You fight, you fight, and you fight, and then you want to leave. You wait two or three years and nothing has changed. How can you endure that?" he asked.
This refugee is not in Europe to "enjoy benefits".
"Of course, I miss home, there's no place like home. If conditions improve, many Syrians, not just me, would return to Syria."
When asked why Syrians do not go to wealthy Dubai, he has no answer, as it is not their choice.
"Ask the governments of the Arab Gulf. I have no answer. Many Syrians would prefer to go to Arab countries because they are developed countries, they have money, and they speak Arabic. But they have closed their doors to us. You should ask them."
Many claim that the refugee columns are full of men, while there are far fewer women and children.
"There are many women and child refugees, but it is easier for men to leave Syria. In addition, women and children are not recruited into the army. Men do not want to fight for or against Assad's regime."
When asked what kind of man leaves his family in a war zone, Milad also has an answer.
"They could not easily decide to leave their homes and jobs. I am young. I don't have a house and I have time to look for another job and a place to live. But my father, for example, who is 60 years old, cannot easily decide to leave everything. He left after two years, not at the same time as me, after realizing that nothing had changed and that everything was going badly."
