(Patria) - Explosions were heard near the Syrian capital Damascus as Israel carried out an airstrike, Syrian state television reported shortly after midnight, agencies reported.
“Israeli aggression hit some areas in the village of Damascus,” the report added, without specifying whether there were casualties or material damage.
Israel usually does not comment on accusations that it is behind the attacks, but has subsequently admitted on several occasions that it is targeting positions in neighboring Syria.
Israel claims to be attacking Iranian forces' positions in Syria, or arms shipments from Iran intended for Hezbollah in neighboring Lebanon.
