SIPA conducting searches due to organized crime and money laundering, joint operation of BiH and Slovenia

(Patria) - Operation "ATM" is being conducted under the order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office in the fight against organized crime and money laundering.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office and SIPA have carried out investigative activities in a joint investigative team with partner institutions of the Republic of Slovenia.

"SIPA police officers are carrying out several arrests and searches in the area of Zenica and other cities, aimed at detecting and prosecuting individuals suspected of international organized crime and money laundering.

This case involves the investigation of large transfers of funds from Slovenia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, for allegedly and fictitiously realized business deals in the construction sector, as well as other business deals, which were subsequently transferred back from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Slovenia by several individuals in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus entering legal financial flows.

The investigation was conducted in coordination with colleagues from partner institutions in Slovenia, which undertook certain investigative activities related to a large number of searches and arrests on the territory of this EU member state," according to a statement from the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

Given that the investigative activities on the ground are still ongoing, the BiH Prosecutor's Office and partner institutions cannot provide more information or details at this time.
