SIPA arrests five persons, seizes drugs and weapons

Police officers of SIPA yesterday, in the operational action "Marker 4", deprived five persons of liberty and searched facilities at seven locations in the area of Modriča, Bosanski Šamac, Doboj and Bosanska Kostajnica, SIPA announced, as reported by the Patria news agency.

The aforementioned activities were carried out pursuant to orders of the District Court in Banja Luka and the Special Prosecutor's Office of the RS, in cooperation with police officers of the RS MUP.

Deprived of liberty were persons with initials M.G. (1968), D.M. (1980), B.Đ. (1963), D.O. (1967) and Ž.Đ. (1973) due to reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offense of unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs and the criminal offense of illegal production and trafficking of weapons and explosive materials. 

During the work on this case, so far four kilograms of herbal plant material that by its appearance resembles the narcotic drug "marijuana", 16 kilograms of explosives (military and plastic), several types of explosive devices, a large number of ammunition of various calibers, 12 detonator caps, two automatic rifles, one semi-automatic rifle, eight hunting rifles, four pistols and other items that may serve as evidence in further proceedings have been temporarily seized.

-Police officers of SIPA, in cooperation with the Special Prosecutor's Office of the RS, conducted a multi-month complex criminal investigation that resulted in establishing facts and gathering evidence about the criminal activities of the suspects.

The persons deprived of liberty were brought last night to the official premises of SIPA in the Regional Office Banja Luka, where they are being subjected to criminal processing, after which they will be handed over to the Special Prosecutor's Office of the RS for further proceedings", SIPA stated.
