(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, in the area of Tuzla, deprived one person of liberty due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of Human Smuggling under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The activities were carried out within the framework of the operation codenamed "Istok" (East).
"The suspect was found in the area of Tuzla driving a passenger motor vehicle in which there were 6 illegal migrants. Through further operational measures and actions, another 10 illegal migrants from Syria and Algeria were discovered in the mentioned area.
In accordance with Article 66 of the Law on Criminal Procedure of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the mobile phone and the passenger motor vehicle used by the suspect were temporarily seized.
Upon documentation of the case, an appropriate report will be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH against the suspect," stated SIPA.
