SIPA arrested four more individuals: Suspected of war crimes in Sanski Most

SIPA members arrested four individuals in the Banja Luka and Prijedor areas on Tuesday, who are linked to war crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

More intensive arrests of suspects for war crimes committed in the territory of former Yugoslavia followed the visit of the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Serge Brammertz, and the Head of the BiH Department at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enlargement, Michaela Matuella, who were in Sarajevo from November 12 to 14.

During his visit, Brammertz criticized the work of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, emphasizing that the persistence and professionalism of prosecutor's offices and courts in BiH need to be further strengthened if success is to be achieved in a delicate and complex process such as war crimes, writes Patria.

Just three days after Brammertz left BiH, members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) arrested 12 individuals suspected of war crimes committed in 1992 against victims of Bosniak nationality in the municipality of Prijedor. After that, SIPA conducted several operations in BiH, in which dozens of people were arrested in connection with various crimes in BiH.

On Tuesday morning, SIPA arrested four individuals on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population in the area of Sanski Most between 1992 and 1995, reports NAP.
