SIPA arrested one person for human smuggling

(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) in Mostar arrested one person due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense from Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, "Human Smuggling", and prevented the smuggling of 4 persons, citizens of the Republic of Iraq. Acting on the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SIPA police officers searched the passenger motor vehicle driven by the suspect and discovered four smuggled persons, and temporarily seized items that may serve as evidence in further criminal proceedings.

The suspect was brought to SIPA premises and is undergoing criminal processing, after which they will be handed over to the further jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the legal deadline.
The aforementioned activities were carried out in cooperation with the Service for Foreigners' Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
