SIPA arrests two individuals in Sarajevo: 10 kg of explosives and 12.5 kg of drugs seized

At the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, an operation was conducted in the fight against drug and explosives smuggling, and two individuals were arrested. A larger quantity of explosives intended for the commission of criminal acts was seized.

Acting on the order of the prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, police officers of SIPA in the Sarajevo area deprived two suspects of their liberty.

- Also, searches were conducted of the premises used by the suspects, and a larger quantity of explosives (about 10 kilograms), intended for sale on the illegal market for the commission of criminal acts, was found. A larger quantity of the dangerous substance mercury, 4 automatic rifles, slow-burning fuse for explosives, detonator caps, and a larger quantity of ammunition were also found.

During the searches, a larger quantity of narcotic drugs was also found (9.5 kg of marijuana, 3 kg of the drug "Speed", and 300 g of heroin).

This operation, as well as the seizure of explosives and explosive substances, certainly prevented the commission of a larger number of criminal acts.

The suspects are under investigation for the criminal offense of organized crime (Article 250 of the Criminal Code of BiH), in connection with the criminal offenses of unauthorized trafficking in weapons, military equipment and dual-use products (Article 193), as well as the criminal offenses of unauthorized trafficking in narcotic drugs (Article 195).

According to the collected evidence, the suspects, as part of an organized criminal group, from 2014 until today, participated in the commission of criminal acts related to international smuggling and sale of weapons and explosives, as well as narcotic drugs.

This seizure represents one of the largest seizures of explosives, dangerous substances and narcotic drugs in BiH.

Within the framework of this investigation, several months ago, a certain quantity of narcotic drugs, as well as weapons and ammunition, was also seized. The deprived individuals will be handed over to the prosecuting prosecutor who will examine them, and then decide on further activities in accordance with the law.
