SIPA arrests Duško Zorić, who was released by Minister Mikulić

Continuing activities related to war crimes in the Prijedor area, acting on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) yesterday (20 November 2014), in the Prijedor area, deprived of liberty a person with initials D.Z. (born 1971), reports the Patria news agency.

The person with initials D.Z. was deprived of liberty due to reasonable suspicion that during 1992 he committed the criminal offense under Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, "Crime against humanity," in the Prijedor area.

After the criminal investigation in the official premises of SIPA, the person deprived of liberty will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina this morning for further proceedings.

Namely, behind these initials is the name Duško Zorić, suspected of war crimes in Prijedor, who was released from Zenica prison by the Federal Minister of Justice Zoran Mikulić, seven days after the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina requested Zorić's arrest from the Ministry of Justice on suspicion of participating in the liquidation of 25 Bosniaks from Prijedor.
Instead of consent, Mikulić issued a rejection and did not allow the deprivation of liberty of Duško Zorić, informing the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina of this.

- Recently, it has been noticed that the number of requests for interviews with convicts by prosecutors and police authorities has increased significantly, and that frequent interviews cause visible unrest; we are currently unable to respond and comply with your request - Mikulić replied.
Zorić was released on 14 November, using his legal right to annual leave.
