SIPA arrests Indirect Taxation Authority official for fraud in office, to be handed over to BiH Prosecutor's Office

(Patria) - On 04/16/2025, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, under the supervision of the acting prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, executed an order from the BiH Court concerning the search of a suspect, their apartment, other premises, and movable property used by the suspect in the Sarajevo area, with the aim of finding evidence for the criminal offense of "Fraud in Office" under the Criminal Code of BiH.

During the search, items requested by the BiH Court order were found and temporarily confiscated, which will serve as evidence in the further course of the criminal proceedings.

The suspect is a customs official of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, and after the search, they were deprived of liberty and brought to the Agency's official premises for questioning as a suspect. After the questioning, the acting prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office will decide on the suspect's further status.

This case involves the State Investigation and Protection Agency police officers, in coordination with the BiH Prosecutor's Office, working for an extended period to document the aforementioned criminal offense, during which cooperation was established with the BiH Border Police, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, and the BiH Intelligence-Security Agency.
