SIPA arrested six persons last night and this morning on terrorism charges

Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), as part of the continuation of the operation codenamed „Damask“, last night and this morning deprived a total of six persons of their liberty and searched premises at six locations in the areas of Sarajevo, Maglaj, Bužim and Velika Kladuša with the aim of finding and temporarily seizing items that could serve as evidence in further proceedings, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

In the area of Sarajevo last night (17.02.2015), persons with initials M.K. (1996), N.H. (1986) and E.T. (1964) were deprived of their liberty, while this morning (18.02.2015) in the areas of Maglaj and Bužim, persons with initials A.I. (1992), H.E. (1981) and R.I. (1953) were deprived of their liberty.

The deprived persons are suspected of having committed the criminal offenses of financing terrorist activities, public incitement to terrorist activities, recruitment for terrorist activities, organizing a terrorist group, all in connection with the criminal offense of terrorism, and the criminal offense of unlawful formation and joining of foreign paramilitary or parapolice formations.

After establishing the necessary facts and confirming the grounds for suspicion, upon the proposal of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued orders for searches and deprivations of liberty, which were carried out. During the work on this case, close cooperation was achieved between SIPA and the Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while during the implementation of the latest activities, cooperation was also achieved with members of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The deprived persons have been brought to the official premises of SIPA, where they will undergo criminal processing, after which, in accordance with the instructions of the prosecutor handling the case, a decision will be made on their further status.
