SIPA searches eight locations, seven people arrested

(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency today in the areas of Istočna Ilidža, Konjic, Mostar, Pelagićevo, Široki Brijeg and Ilijaš, carried out the operational action "Regina" (north) and searched residential buildings, persons and movable property at eight locations.

Seven persons were deprived of liberty due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offenses of "Organized Crime" from Article 250, Paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in connection with the criminal offense of "Illicit Trafficking of Excise Products" from Article 210a, Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the search, items that could serve as evidence in further proceedings were discovered and temporarily confiscated, namely: 8260 cartons of cigarettes not marked with control and tax stamps in the manner prescribed by the tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 385 PVC bags filled with cut tobacco weighing about 0.5 kilograms, 30 kilograms of cut tobacco, five packs of cigarette filters, three cigarette fillers, 10 mobile phones with accompanying SIM cards.

Investigative actions were carried out by orders of the Court and Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of West Herzegovina Canton.
