KS Police Union Ready for Protests if Attacks on Police Chief and Police Continue

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Regarding the investigation into the murder of two police officers in Sarajevo Canton, Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović, the KS Police Union announced that recently certain circles are trying to discredit the work of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS.

The Sarajevo Canton Police Union announced that initiating disciplinary proceedings against the police chief will harm the work of police officers as a whole.

"Malicious insinuations, 'accidentally' published official documents in certain media, and unfounded requests for initiating disciplinary proceedings against the police chief are harming the work of the police as a whole, and are attempting to shake the evident return of trust in this police agency, which is evident through a series of successful actions in the fight against crime and corruption," the Union stated.

They also emphasized that they most strongly condemn the abuse of the investigation into the murder of Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović.

"We most strongly condemn any attempt to abuse the investigation into the murder of our colleagues, in a way that their tragic death serves as a means of settling scores between any individual or institution with police officers and the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS. From those responsible for conducting the investigation, we expect full dedication to the case with the aim of fully clarifying and finding and bringing to justice the suspects, and that the focus be shifted from the 'war of statements' and the persecution of investigators and the chief to the prosecution of the murderers of our colleagues and their accomplices," the statement reads.

Finally, it is emphasized that police officers will not remain silent about reports that abuse the investigation.

"We will not remain silent about any statements, reports, memos, or actions that indicate attempts to abuse the investigation into the murder of our colleagues, which must be the top priority in the work of the competent institutions and at the highest professional level with the aim of its successful conclusion," concluded the statement of the Steering Board of the KS Police Union, chaired by Sadik Ećo.

Sadik Ećo, the president of the Union, said tonight that if the pressure on the police chief and the Police Administration continues, an urgent session of the KS Assembly will be requested, and in the extreme case, police protests will be organized.
