KS Police Union Announces Protests If Government Rejects Amendments

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The KS Police Union has announced protests if the KS Government does not accept the proposed amendments to the Bill on Police Officers in Sarajevo Canton.

Representatives in the KS Assembly are expected to discuss the Bill on Police Officers of Sarajevo Canton at the next Assembly session, scheduled for September 6.

We remind you that the Draft of that law was adopted back in February last year, and the deadline for public debate was 60 days. After that, the Draft text was prepared, and opinions from competent authorities were requested.

The KS Police Union believes that in the meantime, some regulations have changed that could significantly affect the final text of the law to be discussed in the Assembly.

The Union notes that at the beginning of this year, a new Law on Pension and Disability Insurance and a Law amending the Law on Police Officers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were adopted, and that it is necessary to align with it.

Some cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have already done so.

The Union claims that the KS Government, at its session held on July 12, 2018, determined the Bill on Police Officers, which also included provisions related to retirement, but that at the session held on August 23, 2018, the KS Government determined a new Draft Law.

KS Assembly representatives Segmedina Srna - Bajramović (SDP) and Rasim Lakota (SBB) have submitted amendments to the Government's Draft Law. The Union announces that if these amendments are rejected, they will decide on further activities.
