FUP Union calls on authorities to protect police officers

SARAJevo, (Patria) - We are witnessing increasingly frequent verbal and physical attacks on police officers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the Union of Police Officers of the Federal Police Administration, who state that these attacks are directed at personal and professional dignity and integrity.

"The attacks are most often a consequence of undertaking official actions, which we strongly condemn. We call on all representatives of the judicial and legislative authorities to urgently take measures and actions within their jurisdiction to curb this negative trend and its consequences. We call on representatives of the authorities and trade unions in the security sector to ensure better working conditions and existential issues through joint action, all with the aim of preserving the dignity of police officers and the institutions they represent," the FUP Union stated in a press release.

In recent weeks, the public in BiH has witnessed several attacks on police officers, some of which have resulted in serious bodily injuries.
