Union of State Employees Removes Police from Name, as Police Have Their Own Union

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After months of warnings, an extraordinary assembly was held for the "Independent Union of State and Police Employees and Workers in BiH Institutions, Judiciary and Public Institutions of BiH", and the main reason for the extraordinary assembly was the amendments to the Statute, i.e., a change in the name of the union, which in its future work will be called the "Union of State Employees and Workers in Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina."

The part referring to police officers has been removed from the name, as police officers have established the "Union of Unions of Police Bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina", headed by Dragan Krvavac.

The problem arose during consultations regarding transportation allowances. The Ministry of Finance of BiH, headed by Vjekoslav Bevanda, consulted the then "Independent Union of State and Police Employees and Workers in BiH Institutions, Judiciary and Public Institutions of BiH", even though this union did not have representativeness when it came to police officers!

The president of that union, Lejla Čopelj, did not take any action to remove "police officers" from the name, although the representative union for state-level police is the "Union of Unions of Police Bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina."

Even the Ministry of Justice did nothing for months regarding the request that was filed with this ministry, concerning the change of the union's name headed by Čopelj.
