A 24-year-old from Karlovac tried to kill a 46-year-old woman. It is unofficially known that it is about a son and mother, Croatian media report, Patria news agency reports.
Police say that after a verbal argument in a family home, the young man beat the woman with a blunt object, severely injuring her.
Given the means and intensity of the attack, it is not a case of causing grievous bodily harm but an attempted murder, Croatian media state.
According to unofficial information, it is about a conflict within the family, but the County Prosecutor's Office has not yet announced details of this event.
