(Patria) - Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, has been found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm while using drugs, reports RSE.
According to Reuters, the 12-member jury found him guilty on all three counts of the indictment, making him the first sitting president's son to be convicted of a felony.
The judge did not set a sentencing date, but said the timeframe is typically around 120 days. This means sentencing will occur no later than a month before the US presidential election scheduled for November 5.
Hunter Biden's trial began on June 3 in Wilmington, Delaware. He is accused of three felonies stemming from his purchase of a handgun in 2018.
The prosecution alleges that during the purchase of a 'Colt Cobra' in Wilmington, he lied to a federally licensed gun dealer, falsely stated in the application that he was not a drug user, and illegally possessed the revolver for 11 days.
Hunter Biden had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The trial began shortly after the historic conviction of former US President Donald Trump. He and his Republican colleagues claim that this trial, as well as the remaining three, are politically motivated.
