Six demands from Muriz Memić over his son's never-solved murder

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, demanded tonight the resignation of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton Mevludin Halilović, as well as the arrest of the chief cantonal prosecutor Dalida Burzić and Alisa Mutap, the girl who was with Dženan on the night he was killed, Patria reports.

Hundreds of Sarajevo citizens are supporting the Memić family tonight in their efforts to discover the killers of their son, who died in February 2016, but the authorities have still never revealed how the young man was killed. The family suspects deep involvement of the cantonal Ministry of Interior and the Prosecutor's Office in covering up the murder.

In the six demands that Muriz Memić presented on Sunday evening, he also requested that his lawyer Ifet Feraget be present at the meeting of the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) Milan Tegeltija and ambassadors of Western countries, so that the ambassadors would not receive incorrect information, and he also requested an urgent meeting with the new state prosecutor who is to be elected at the end of January.

"We will not allow them to buy time like Dalida Burzić and Zdravko Knežević," said Memić, adding that he demands that the investigation into his son's death be conducted by the State Prosecutor's Office with EU monitoring and the participation of his lawyer Feraget.

Memić announced large protests in February, when three years will have passed since his son's death. Tonight, he set off with a group of citizens on a protest march from the memorial to the murdered children of Sarajevo towards Sebilj.

The participants walked down Ferhadija Street towards Sebilj shouting: "Arrest the murderer", "Justice, justice..."

"Dalida Burzić cannot remain free," said Memić.

"You killed my Dženan, now you are trying to kill me too. Thank you to every citizen who came tonight to give support to me and Davor. The judiciary in BiH is corrupt. For 1,050 days I have not received a single document from the Prosecutor's Office. Honorable police officers have helped me," he added.

At the same time, while a peaceful citizens' march in support of the Memić family is taking place in Sarajevo, hundreds of Banja Luka residents are gathering on the city square in Banja Luka to support the Dragičević family, who are seeking the truth about the death of their son David, killed in March this year.
