Six people killed in train accident in Denmark

COPENHAGEN, (Patria) - Danish police announced that six people died in a train accident on the bridge connecting the islands of Zealand and Funen, while 16 people were injured, Reuters reports.

It is stated that the bridge has been closed due to the accident, Tanjug reports.  The Danish agency Ritzau announced that six people were killed.

Danish Railways DSB confirmed the police news of the deaths of six people. 

Reuters reports that a strong storm in Denmark is making it difficult for rescue services to reach the bridge.

Danish media report that parts from a freight train hit a passenger train moving in the opposite direction, causing it to derail.

The Storebaelt railway bridge is part of a network of bridges and tunnels connecting the Danish islands.
