SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Senator Bernie Sanders announced that he will try again to win the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential elections, after losing in the primaries in 2016 to Hillary Clinton.
Sanders announced the nomination in an interview with Vermont radio, in the state he represents.
"I wanted to inform the residents of Vermont first," the 77-year-old senator told the radio. In the interview, he fiercely criticized the current president Donald Trump, calling him a "racist, sexist, homophobe and xenophobe.".
Sanders lost the Democratic party primaries in 2016 to Hillary Clinton, who in turn lost the election to Trump.
He joined the list of a dozen Democrats vying for the White House, including Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey, and Senators Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. Joe Biden, former Vice President under Barack Obama, is also expected to run.
