(Patria) - The U.S. Senate has adopted a resolution prohibiting the use of U.S. armed forces against Venezuela. The resolution was passed with 52 votes in favor and 47 against.
On January 3, the U.S. launched a massive attack on Venezuela and captured President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, after which they were taken to New York.
U.S. President Donald Trump said that Maduro and his wife will face trial for involvement in "narcoterrorism" and a threat to the U.S.
Russia, China, and North Korea strongly condemned the U.S. actions.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan people and called for the release of Maduro and his wife, as well as for preventing further escalation of the situation.
