Vranci Village Ranks Among the Most Beautiful in Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - In the narrow valley of the Mrganovac stream, on the slopes of Mount Lopata, in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, lies the village of Vranci, which delights with its beauty.

You will find it in the immediate vicinity of Kreševo, a place that was once known as a mining center.

- The valley of the Kreševčica River represents an area of traditional iron craftsmanship and mining, where a large number of blacksmith workshops were located, many of which were precisely in the village of Vranci.

In Vranci, blacksmith workshops or mines have not been preserved, but the village architecture with characteristics of a compact settlement of the mining-metallurgical type has been preserved.

Seven houses have been declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Boris Trogrančić, a traveling photographer who often delights with his photographs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, tells Punkufer.hr.

Trogrančić adds that the settlement also has a bridge worth paying attention to.

- The bridge, also known as the Roman Bridge, is located on the route of a Roman mining road, the remains of which were found about 400 meters from the bridge.

It has also been declared a national monument. There is not much data about its origin, but it is believed that it existed at that location since ancient times.

Not far from the bridge are ta’te (Turkish: boards, slabs), a strangely shaped structure. Locals call two beams under which there are two heavy metal plates by this name.

In past times, during the Ottoman Empire, they served in these areas instead of church bells, which were forbidden.

Today, only one set of ta’te remains in Bosnia and Herzegovina, precisely those in the village of Vranci.

The USAID project for sustainable tourism development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Alterural Association, launched an initiative this summer and selected the 14 most beautiful villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of developing, promoting, and preserving authentic Bosnian-Herzegovinian villages. One of them is the village of Vranci - adds Trogrančić.
