Sejfović sentenced to 10 years in prison for escape from correctional facility in 2017

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Amel Sejfović was sentenced to 10 years in prison, Dževad Hazić to seven, Amir Ibrahimi to five, and Igor Miloš to one year according to the first-instance verdict of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo. The indictment against Sejfović and others was confirmed on December 1, 2017, and the escape from the Sarajevo correctional facility occurred on September 3, 2017.

According to the indictment, Amel Sejfović organized a criminal group that enabled his escape from the correctional facility. Thus, following Sejfović's instructions, who devised the escape plan, the group members communicated encrypted via mobile phones at all times and arranged the details of the escape. Among other things, they looked for an apartment where Amel Sejfović was to hide after the escape, and determined the routes for motorcycles and cars after the escape from the correctional facility. They procured an automatic rifle "Kalashnikov", which was found during the investigation in Tušnjići where Sejfović was arrested in a police pursuit in the area of Visoko.
They procured a pistol which was packed in a package and lowered with a rope through an open dome on the roof of the correctional facility into the gym, and then handed over to medical technician Igor Miloš, who is accused of keeping and holding the pistol in the infirmary and then handing it over to Sejfović when he requested it.
Prison guard Nikola Simić is accused of enabling Sejfović to take the pistol out of the cell without hindrance, and of allowing him to escape during his walk within the correctional facility grounds without adequate control and supervision. After the escape, in front of the correctional facility, Amel Sejfović was met by Mirza Fazlić on a motorcycle, who took him to the garages in the tunnel on Hakija Kulenović Street, and after that they headed towards Visoko by car. While Amel Sejfović was hiding in the Tušnjići area, Sanjin Borčak helped him by leaving him food, clothes, phones, and SIM cards at various locations, and he had the task of transporting him to a safe location. The accused committed: Amel Sejfović the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offenses of escape of a person deprived of liberty and illegal possession of weapons or explosives; Dževad Hazić the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offenses of enabling the escape of a person deprived of liberty and illegal possession of weapons or explosives, Igor Buzov the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offenses of enabling the escape of a person deprived of liberty and illegal possession of weapons or explosives, Amir Ibrahimi the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offense of enabling the escape of a person deprived of liberty, Igor Miloš the criminal offense of enabling the escape of a person deprived of liberty and the criminal offense of illegal possession of weapons or explosives, Nikola Simić, the criminal offense of unlawful release of a person deprived of liberty, Mirza Fazlić, the criminal offense of enabling the escape of a person deprived of liberty, Sanjin Borčak, the criminal offense of aiding the perpetrator after the commission of a criminal offense.

The other defendants were sentenced based on a previously concluded guilt admission agreement with the KS Prosecutor's Office.
