The majority of residents in eastern Bosnia live difficult lives. On the brink of poverty. The economy in BiH is in decline, and this is particularly evident in this part of the country.
Sejad Muškić lives in Cerska near Vlasenica. He has a wife and three children. His brother, his wife, and their two children live in the same house. Sejad's mother and his two other brothers live in the house next door. None of this 12-member, close-knit family has permanent employment.
However, the Muškić family does not give up. They are trying to live off agriculture, although it is still difficult for them. They grow agricultural products for themselves, for their own consumption, but besides food, they, like others, need money so their children can attend school, pay utility bills, and buy clothes. The price of what is grown in the countryside is low, due to imports that stifle the domestic economy.
This hardworking family still has hope for better days. They do not lose their will to work. The Muškić family says they see an opportunity in raising sheep, goats, or cows. This is their plan and their wish. Unfortunately, they cannot buy animals themselves, so they hope someone will help them achieve their dream. They say they would not forget it. Whoever helps them, they are ready to reciprocate manifold.
- We have dunums of unused land. The grass is simply going to waste. If someone helped us acquire at least a few sheep, we are ready to work day and night and build a large flock from it, and then expand the business and help other people who need assistance – the Muškić family stated.
Those who wish to help the Muškić family can contact the Association "Svjetlo" at the phone number 062 798 102.
