(Patria) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that hunger in Gaza is "knocking on every door", calling the situation a horror.
"Across the world, we see a total disregard, if not an outright violation of international law," Guterres told the United Nations Security Council.
He focused on the evil that Israel is perpetrating in Gaza.
"We need look no further than the horror show in Gaza. The level of death and destruction is unprecedented in recent times. Malnutrition is rising. Hunger is knocking on every door. We are now witnessing the last breath of a humanitarian system built on humanitarian principles," he said.
Guterres said that the UN humanitarian system is being "denied the conditions to operate" in Gaza, including space to deliver aid and security for helping people in need.
Guterres also said he was "appalled" by attacks on UN premises in Gaza, including facilities of the United Nations Office for Project Services, and warehouses and residences of the World Health Organization.
"These premises are inviolable and must be protected by international humanitarian law without exception," he said.
As the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to worsen, the United Nations Human Rights Office had a clear message: "Palestinians in Gaza are dying of hunger".
In the past 24 hours, 15 people, including four children, have died of starvation across the territory, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.
Separately, at least 1,054 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army while trying to access food aid in Gaza, the UN Human Rights Office added in its statement.
