(Patria) - Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani believes that sending NATO troops to Ukraine would risk triggering a third world war.
- I think NATO should not enter Ukraine. That would be a mistake. We must help Ukraine defend itself, but entering the country and waging war against Russia means risking a third world war - Tajani said.
His comment followed French President Emmanuel Macron's recent suggestion of sending troops to defend Ukraine.
- Our military is good at what it does, protecting our ships in the Red Sea, doing good work in Lebanon, Africa, and Iraq. They are bearers of peace and freedom - Tajani said.
Commenting on the current situation in the Gaza Strip, he stated that Italy must work with "moderate Muslim countries," such as Egypt, to achieve a peace agreement for the Gaza Strip.
- Egypt is a key player in trying to find an agreement that will bring peace to Gaza. Egypt, like Qatar, is a fundamental country for the stability of this region and the Mediterranean - Tajani concluded.
