(Patria) – Germany will begin to ease border controls in order to establish freedom of travel in Europe from June 15, the country's Interior Minister announced on Wednesday.
The minister explained that border controls agreed upon with France, Switzerland, and Austria, which were set to expire on May 15, will be extended until June 16, but with more crossings opened.
– The goal is to have freedom of travel in Europe again from mid-June, said Seehofer, noting that controls will be reintroduced in case of a new wave of infections.
