SDP 'forgot' to invite investigative bodies to examine Spahić's claims: It's easiest to hide behind hate speech for crime!

By: A. Čorbo-Zećo

After the shocking appearance of the former president of the KS Health Center Management Board, Ademir Spahić, in which he clearly and precisely spoke about the criminal activities of SDP cadres close to Nermin Nikšić, from concluding contracts with owners of companies close to Nikšić, through suspicious hirings, to the procurement of suits and defibrillators, it was expected that Spahić would no longer be a member of the SDP.

However, it was not expected that the SDP would remain silent on all accusations, apart from the remark that Spahić's claims were unargued, and that the Presidency of the KS SDP Sarajevo would accuse Ademir Spahić of hate speech!

This formulation is not foreign to SDP members, who recently also accused Reuf Bajrović of hate speech after they re-edited a recording of his TV appearance! Thus, anyone who speaks about potential criminal activities of SDP members, or criticizes their policies, is ostracized and labeled as inciting hatred.

Contrary to the ideology they claim to belong to, the SDP is effectively protecting crime here, and persecuting 'whistleblowers'. It resembles Russia, but it is not, it is still Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the following, we present the SDP's reasoning for Spahić's expulsion:

"Ademir Spahić violated the Statute of SDP BiH, as in media appearances, specifically during his guest appearance on Hayat television on February 23, 2024, he did not behave with respect and consideration towards members of SDP BiH, and through his targeted speech, he caused hate speech towards an individual, or a group of people based on nationality, with the aim of creating intolerance and discrimination, with a condescending tone, not respecting the Statute of SDP BiH and the principles of social democracy, thereby causing enormous damage to all members of SDP BiH and SDP BiH as a political party.

Furthermore, Ademir Spahić, in his subsequent public appearances, including the aforementioned public appearance on TV Hayat, as well as a new appearance on the same TV station on February 25, 2024, as well as through numerous portals that reported information from his guest appearances on the aforementioned TV station, in which he represents SDP BiH, made a series of offensive statements, subjective understandings of various situations, and presented claims about processes within the SDP completely without argument, and in various ways caused damage and harmed the reputation of SDP BiH, as well as encouraged the erosion of trust of citizens and members in the true values of SDP BiH.

In accordance with the above, Ademir Spahić committed violations of Article 20, paragraphs 2, 5, 6, 7, 20, 21, Article 25, Article 27, and Article 28 of the Statute of SDP BiH, as well as Article 17 of the Code of Ethics of SDP BiH, and it is proposed to adopt the aforementioned Decision on the expulsion of Ademir Spahić from the membership of SDP BiH".

In all the aforementioned paragraphs, they did not even courteously deign to invite investigative bodies to verify Spahić's claims. He, unlike the party he belonged to, did. He even confirmed that he had given statements. However, the SDP would still like to talk about 'Respirators' and the previous criminal government, while distancing individuals from their ranks who transparently point out problems.

Incidentally, according to the SDP Statute, measures can be imposed in party proceedings: a warning, suspension from all party functions until a final decision is made, and expulsion from SDP BiH.
Expulsion is mandatory in cases where a member has been finally convicted to a prison sentence of three or more years for organized crime, economic crime, and corruption offenses. Article 20, which Spahić violated, also states that a member of the SDP is obliged to publicly express their opinion. Apparently, this only applies to opinions that do not concern the SDP itself!?

It is also worth reminding that the SDP, in its statute, aims to fight against apartheid, all forms of fascism, racism, national and religious intolerance, all forms of dictatorship, partyocracy, corruption, and crime. Given that they did not even invite investigative bodies to verify Spahić's claims, their fight against corruption and crime has remained merely a dead letter on paper. Just as the SDP itself is becoming a party in which even the Statute is read and interpreted in different ways.
