SDP proposed that a portion of the salaries of FBiH officials be allocated to the Parent's House, Parliament rejected the proposal

The FBiH Parliament did not accept the SDP's amendment to redirect part of the salaries of the leadership of the legislative and executive authorities of the Federation to the work of the Parent's House in Sarajevo, where children suffering from cancer and their parents stay, writes NAP.

The club of deputies of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the House of Representatives submitted an amendment to the draft Budget of the FBiH, requesting that part of the funds intended for the salaries of the chairpersons and deputy chairpersons in the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, as well as part of the funds intended for the salaries of the President and Vice-President of the FBiH, be redirected to the Parent's House in Sarajevo.

The amendment stated that annually, 215,000 KM could be secured for the financing of the Parent's House, solely from the portion of salaries of the leading officials of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, and the leading officials of the FBiH.

- At the end of April this year, the Parent's House was opened within the Pediatric Clinic of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, providing accommodation for children suffering from cancer and their families who come from outside Sarajevo. For this project to remain sustainable, additional financial resources are needed, which would guarantee the safety of all users of this project.

Given that the Prime Minister of the FBiH, Fadil Novalić, also attended the aforementioned opening of the Parent's House, where he clearly stated that the FBiH would, through the Budget, participate in the sustainable co-financing of the work of the said institution, in the interest of children and parents, we believe that with this amendment, with insignificant financial resources compared to the total budget of the FBiH, we are helping the right cause – stated the SDP.

- The additional need for this amendment lies in the fact that for several weeks we have had very clear warnings that the said institution lacks funds for its normal operation in 2017 –  the explanation of the amendment further states.
