SDP: Conduct an investigation for endangering people's health and lives and for violating the Law on Rescue

The Cantonal Board of SDP Tuzla most strongly condemns the inaction of the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters of Lukavac, and demands an investigation by the competent Prosecutor's Office for endangering people's health and lives and for violating the Law on Rescue of People and Property.

- We condemn the shameful decision of the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters of Lukavac, which prohibits the delivery of water to the population by trucks from other municipalities. Particularly scandalous is the mention of the sanitary inspector's claims, who stated in his records that he cannot guarantee the quality of drinking water, at a time when a fire truck from Lukavac was operating, from which dirty and muddy water was leaking.

Help was not available through Civil Protection because the doors of this service in Lukavac were locked, and the managers were unavailable. The only one from the ruling structures on the ground who tried his best was the president of the affected local community, and our teams cooperated excellently with him - say from SDP Tuzla.

It is further stated that "the people still have fresh memories of the nationalists who, during the floods in Doboj, protested against aid from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and even demanded the dismissal of the mayor, or the nationalists from Orašje who opposed sending aid for the repair of the Sava embankment during the floods, because it was unpopular for nationalists for people from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina or Tuzla to help in times of need.".

- No less inhumane are those who declared water from Gračanica and Tuzla unsuitable for the affected residents of Poljice. There were no party symbols on the water trucks or on the activists, and we highlight the reaction of our cadres and the coalition for the mayor from Lukavac as an example of how things should be done: both when it is not an election campaign, and during an election campaign. We publicly ask the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters of Lukavac if the water trucks should have waited for seven days after the disaster for this body to meet and approve humanitarian aid?

We join the assessments that this is inhumane and anti-civilization behavior of structures that seek justification for their inaction and violation of the law by attacking those who have done something concrete and rushed to help citizens at a time when the competent municipal structures were asleep and unavailable. It is absurd that the humanitarian action of Dr. Edin Delić is being prohibited by the Civil Protection of Lukavac, while they are not doing their job. SDP informs citizens that all our cadres will be engaged in providing assistance, drinking water, or in any other way. We demand that the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters immediately revoke the shameful decision that prohibits and outlaws any assistance, especially assistance from Tuzla and Gračanica, which are neighboring municipalities and fully share the feelings of the affected population.

We thank the mayors of the municipalities of Gračanica and Tuzla, Messrs. Nusret Helić and Jasmin Imamović, for selflessly engaging their resources immediately and sending aid to the population. According to our information, the Civil Protection of Lukavac has finally started delivering drinking water to the population. If necessary, our activists and aid will be sent again, regardless of what the nationalists think about it, who are ready to exhaust their own people with thirst for their own interests - the statement added.
